Ho, Ho, Ho...Merry Christmas

Wyatt offically LOVES Christmas! The Christmas festivities began with Kim's house on the 22nd with Kim, Kevin and Sawyer where we exchanged gifts and decorated (and ate) coookies. Christmas Eve we had Dasha, Andrea and Lily over for some pot roast, playing and ornament painting. Then, Christmas morning we opened presents from Santa and headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house in South Bend. Then, more presents. It is now the 28th and Wyatt is still asking about presents. I think his favorite was a Bob the Builder tool set. Here are some pictures from the past few days. We've gotten a couple of inches of snow at Grandma and Grandpa's, so hopefully we'll have some playing in the snow pictures to add tomorrow...assuming our ear ache that surfaced in the middle of the night is feeling better!

Letter To Santa

Dear Santa,

I've been hearing so much about you. And from what I hear, you've got this nice/naughty list. Before you finalize that list and head out tonight, I thought I'd explain some things to you.

1. I've believed in you from the beginning...I watched the Polar Express and never once did I doubt you like that little boy! I Believe, I Believe!
2. I've been trying hard to poop in the potty. When I go in the corner and poop in my diaper and tell my parents that I didn't, I'm not lying...I'm just pulling their chains!
3. I'll admit, I do lose my temper. But that's not my fault. If my parents would let me do what I want and when I want to, there wouldn't be a problem! (By the way, which list are they on?)
4. My parents will tell you that I occasionally spit and them when I get mad. They are the one's that started the Raspberries a long time ago...I'm not spitting, just trying to lighten the mood.

I think that's it for now Santa. I've made some cookies for you and your reindeer. Have a safe trip!

Love
Wyatt

Fall Fun

Fall is offically Wyatt's favorite season. Between football and now Boyd's Orchards, we live for the beautiful fall weekends. The past 2 Saturdays have been spent at Boyd's. One with Grandma and one with Cissie, Andrea, Kelly, Lillie, Allie, Jenny and Avaih. Thank you so much to Cissie and Jenny for all of the wonderful pictures they took. Let's see, ride a horse, play in the sand, go down a huge slide, ride a train and come home and watch UK work their way to #8 in the polls. I think we may have gotten a little slice of heaven. Here are just a few pics to some up the day.

On the Tip of My Tongue...

Wow. What a day. It started normally...breakfast, play, kiss Papa goodbye, run to the door and oops...this is where it got ugly this morning. Wyatt tripped, fell and hit face first on the window sill by the door. Talk about blood. Blood from the nose, blood from the lip, and blood from the gums. We got him calmed down, he even began to play again (nothing stops this kid!) when we noticed he still had a little blood in his spit. Hmmm, where is that coming from. Here's the dialogue that followed:

Mom: "Wyatt, stick out your tongue"
(Wyatt sticks out his tongue)
Mom: (some words I won't type), Jason, come here!
Jason: We're going to the doctor...NOW!

Off we go. We got to meet lots of new doctors. Starting with a nurse, then a doctor, then another doctor, then an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon the bearer of the bad news that we all kind of knew was coming...Stitches in the tongue. Not the best time of anyone's life. Since Wyatt had eaten breakfast, sedation was not a choice until late afternoon. After a little discussion, we decided that it was best to get it done. So, some local anasthetic and 15 minutes of mom holding (that's a nice way to put it) Wyatt still and 3 stitches in the tongue later, here we are.

Wyatt was exhausted after the screaming and fighting during the stitches and all of the events that took place, so he fell asleep on the way home. About 3 hours later, I hear something in his room. No, that couldn't be...yes, it is...Wyatt jumping in his crib. Are you serious, kid? I whine for a day when I bite my cheek, and you have stitches in your tongue and you're having a party in your crib?? Wow!

The rest of the night, he's been normal. He ate plenty of yummy soft foods and is on a regular Children's Tylenol schedule. Now, after a long day, he's snoozing once again. I have to wonder what he'll be like throughout the night and tomorrow. I'm hopeful that tonight was an indication that all will be well. Keep your fingers crossed!

We're ready for some football action! C-A-T-S CATS, CATS, CATS! Here's a picture from a little pregame at home. After nap, we're off to tailgate and to see how long we can manage sitting in one seat in a crowd of 70,000...we'll update tonight...

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

So does it all happen when they turn 2? The good, the bad and the ugly. Let's see...

The Good
1. Vocabulary: It seems to increase by the minute. We've gone beyond transportation vehicles, cookie and candy! Whew! We've got please down, still working on thank you, and if anyone around burps, he'll be sure to excuse them.
2. Appetite: He's finally given up and decided that there are worse things in the world than meat and veggies. Now, don't be silly, cookies and "pepper balls" rule, but the others are tolerable now.
3. Relationships: Mama, Papa, Kim, Grandmas, Grandpas, Sarah, Dani, Lillie, Ms. Cheryl, Clay, Erika, Anna, Mr. Daryl, Nick, Luke, Kevin, Logan, Madeline - All of the people he's spoken about without their presence. It's clear relationships are important to this guy. Speaking of relationships, Wyatt got his first kiss tonight at then end of his playdate with Lillie. Too cute to not share.

4. Pretend Play: When the Bob the Builder bit Wyatt and was prompty put to sleep, it was clear prentend time has arrived.
5. Humor: We love to laugh hard and laugh lots. The sillier the better!

The Bad
1. Stong Willed: Good when you're 15 and resisting peer pressure. Not so good to try to get your way 24/7 around mom or dad.
2. "NO": Are you serious?! How many times can one person say this in one day.
3. Obsessions: Playdough + Thomas = Heaven on Earth. Not so much bad, just CONSTANT!

The Ugly
1. #&%! Happens: You know you are ready to begin potty training when...you not only tell mom that you "po po", but you are also holding in your hand.
2. Temper Tantrums: Exactly how hard do you have to shake your head and kick your feet before you do permanent damage? Whether it's good, bad or ugly, he's the "one of a kind" kid that we can't get enough of!

A Perfect Match

Finally, somebody to give Wyatt a run for his money. Meet Ms. Lily Nielsen. We had a great playdate today; begining at the park, off for a little Fazoli's drive thru, throw a popcicle in there and then spin till we fall down and double over laughing. What a Saturday night!!

Happy Birthday, Wyatt!!!!

"Two Years Ago Today"

Two years ago today
In a far away land
A young Kazakh woman
Gave birth; unplanned.

There were no tears of happiness
For this little baby boy
No cigars passed
Or champagne toasts of joy.

Instead a young mother and child
For whose care she couldn’t provide
She wasn’t prepared to be a mother
No matter how hard she tried.

With a heart of gold,
She knew he needed more,
Without a word
She slipped out the door.

There he lay
A future so bright,
Madrid Shalikbayev
Slept through the night.

Two years ago today,
In the Bluegrass state
A young childless couple
Sealed their fate.

Their child to be
Would be born in a far away land
To which they would travel
To become a family as planned.

With hopeful hearts
And a faithful leap
They knew they’d find
the child they would one day keep.

This couple had no clue
How much they would pray
To thank God for what He made happen
Two years ago today.

"Do I have anything on my face?"

Guess which part of the doughnut Wyatt ate first. And yes, we're still working on that smile.

See Ya, Summer

Adios summer vacation. Oh well. I can't complain. We've made the most of this summer and its time to get back into the regular routine. So, in memory of the summer of 2007, here are some pics that you haven't seen yet.
