On the Tip of My Tongue...

Wow. What a day. It started normally...breakfast, play, kiss Papa goodbye, run to the door and oops...this is where it got ugly this morning. Wyatt tripped, fell and hit face first on the window sill by the door. Talk about blood. Blood from the nose, blood from the lip, and blood from the gums. We got him calmed down, he even began to play again (nothing stops this kid!) when we noticed he still had a little blood in his spit. Hmmm, where is that coming from. Here's the dialogue that followed:

Mom: "Wyatt, stick out your tongue"
(Wyatt sticks out his tongue)
Mom: (some words I won't type), Jason, come here!
Jason: We're going to the doctor...NOW!

Off we go. We got to meet lots of new doctors. Starting with a nurse, then a doctor, then another doctor, then an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon the bearer of the bad news that we all kind of knew was coming...Stitches in the tongue. Not the best time of anyone's life. Since Wyatt had eaten breakfast, sedation was not a choice until late afternoon. After a little discussion, we decided that it was best to get it done. So, some local anasthetic and 15 minutes of mom holding (that's a nice way to put it) Wyatt still and 3 stitches in the tongue later, here we are.

Wyatt was exhausted after the screaming and fighting during the stitches and all of the events that took place, so he fell asleep on the way home. About 3 hours later, I hear something in his room. No, that couldn't be...yes, it is...Wyatt jumping in his crib. Are you serious, kid? I whine for a day when I bite my cheek, and you have stitches in your tongue and you're having a party in your crib?? Wow!

The rest of the night, he's been normal. He ate plenty of yummy soft foods and is on a regular Children's Tylenol schedule. Now, after a long day, he's snoozing once again. I have to wonder what he'll be like throughout the night and tomorrow. I'm hopeful that tonight was an indication that all will be well. Keep your fingers crossed!
